Yestermorrow Hosts Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Community Design Workshop

Yestermorrow Design/Build School is hosting an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Design Competition Saturday, Sep 23, 2023.

Yestermorrow is hosting an Accessory Dwelling Unit Design Competition, on September 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a pizza-oven dinner and bonfire. Participants will work in teams to create designs later juried and reviewed by a panel of experts. Three designs will be selected for awards valued at $250, $250, and $500, and everyone will receive valuable feedback from professional reviewers and the audience alike. The event will feature speakers and presentations, as well as networking opportunities with other local architects, designers, and homeowners.

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are a great opportunity for Vermonters seeking to establish sustainable, cost-effective housing in our harsh housing environment. They have the potential to support aging and low-income Vermonters and can help address some of the housing inequity that plagues the state. This competition is designed to showcase the wide and beautiful possibilities of small-scale housing, and build upon the momentum of other housing and planning efforts in the Mad River Valley. This competition is supported by a grant from AARP and open to everyone, regardless of design experience or expertise in the topic.

Entry is free but registration is required. Registrants will receive a delicious lunch made in-house by our cooks, and a pizza dinner. Please visit yestermorrow.org/adudesignworkshop to register for the event.
