Voices from the Front: Structural Racism & Policing

February 9 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free
A panel of five family members whose loved ones were lost to police violence, including Cephus “Uncle Bobby” Johnson, Michael Brown Sr., and Beatrice X Johsnon. This event is an opportunity for lawmakers and the public to hear directly from impacted families about the repercussions of police violence. Racial disparities in Vermont’s criminal legal system are among the worst in the nation — it happens here, too. Our discussion will be moderated by Mia Schultz, president of the Rutland Area NAACP and Dr. Steffen Gillom, president of the Windham County NAACP, and co-hosted by the ACLU of Vermont. In person and streaming. (802) 223-6304
