Vermont Historical Society’s Third Thursday Lecture Series presents Susan Schulten and “The Graphic Reach of Emma Willard” on March 18 at 12 p.m.
Emma Willard remains one of the best known and most influential educators of the nineteenth century. Preceptress at Middlebury Female Academy as a teenager, she went on to found the Troy Female Seminary and produce bestselling textbooks from the 1820s to the 1850s. Join us for an exploration of Willard’s visual and graphic influence, focusing on her own education as well as her role in reaching generations thereafter.
