Qualities of “Mercy?” Film Screening
January 14 @ 7:00 pm
Free
Vermont Humanities presents Peter Gould, founder of the “Get Thee to the Funnery” Shakespeare camp, and young actors in Vermont and Mumbai, India for the world premiere of their streaming film Qualities of ‘Mercy?’
During the pandemic, campers from Vermont collaborated with campers in India on Shakespeare’s, The Merchant of Venice. Campers used the play to confront prejudice and hate speech, deal with the pandemic lockdown, and examine the Black Lives Matter movement. The film premiers on January 14 at 7 p.m. and can be seen on Vermont Humanities’ website, YouTube channel and Facebook page.
On Thursday, January 28 at 7 p.m. Gould, campers Gouri Bhuyan and Audrey Grant, and longtime Funnery participant and Literacy Programs Officer Jonny Flood will host a roundtable discussion about the film on Zoom. Audience participation at this event is welcome and encouraged! Register now for this free discussion.
