The All-Comers Jam is a free, all-ages-and-levels-welcome, New England contra/square dance repertoire music session in a democratic, sit-in style. We go around the circle in Zoom to allow each person to start a tune/small set or pass on their turn and all folks are welcome to play and work on picking up each tune by ear or sheet music.
People bring fiddles, mandolins, cellos, guitars, ukuleles, banjos, flutes, accordions, harmonicas, recorders, concertinas, voice, and percussion. The tunes include the genres of Scottish, French Canadian, Irish, Cape Breton, Scandinavian, and Americana/Old Timey music. Folks can stop in for as little or as long as they like and dancers/listeners are very welcome as well. Everyone except the facilitator is muted during tunes so it is a safe space to explore your instruments.
