Fox sparrows are singing and chicken-scratching in the underbrush on their stopovers north, and our resident owls are nesting. The most important thing we can do to protect these magnificent birds and the environment that supports them, from secondary poisoning and destruction, is stop using rodent poison! Educate yourself about this problem and the alternatives. If you currently have such bait around, dispose of it. Let owls, foxes, and others that depend on rodents do the job this breeding season.
