Brian Carlson, MHS Nordic Ski Team coach for five seasons, was delighted to have both the boys and girls teams again place second overall at the Division 2 State Championships last week.

Having graduated several strong skiers from last year’s team, Carlson said, “I was really impressed with the kids’ progress this year,” noting that due to the on-and-off again snow conditions locally, several skiers made trips to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center for extra training. Craftsbury has the snow-making capacity to establish a durable snow base on their 5km race course.

In summation, Carlson said of the unusually warm season, “We’ve never used so much klister, ever!”
