As goldenrod starts to bloom and birds begin to form small flocks and drift south, our flood recovery grinds on, as relentless as the flood itself, and with unstoppable force. Wrightsville Beach, central to our summer life, will open after a mass clean-up and re-building this Friday, Aug. 11. It will not be perfect, but open!
Meanwhile, we are putting together a picture of damaged aquatic species, exploding mosquito populations, and many other changes as mushrooms pop up and the summer stages its last hurrah!
