Local High School Seniors to Graduate

It is that time of year again for 12th graders to don their caps and gowns and say that final goodbye to their high school. Montpelier High School and Union-32 High School will hold their commencement ceremonies a week apart beginning this Friday, June 9. Spaulding High School’s graduation ceremony is scheduled for one day after graduation at U-32 on June 17. Below are all the details.

Montpelier High School

Graduation is scheduled for Friday, June 9, beginning at 5 p.m. Seniors are asked to arrive at 4:30 p.m. According to the Solon Salutes blog, everyone will get seven tickets for graduation.

Prior to graduation, a “Project Grad” celebration will be held Thursday, June 8, at the high school from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Students must get there by 9 p.m. and may not come back in if they leave the building. Dinner by Woodbelly Pizza will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., followed by laser tag/inflatables/glow-in-the-dark volleyball and snacks at 8:30. A group activity then is scheduled, followed by a hypnotist at 11 p.m. And finally from midnight to 1 a.m. is karaoke and ice cream.

Montpelier’s valedictorians this year are Pilar Abele, Juliet Allen, Ethan Borland, Maeve Byrne, Nora Chase-Tatko, Zeni Claude, Scarlett Davis, Olin Duggan, Cale Ellingson, Sophie Gustafson, Molly Hutton, Isabel Jackson, Sophia Jerome, Idalee Keller, Erica Laxer, Sienna Mills, Coyah Mosher, Merrick Modun, Anna Neuburger, Grace Nostrant, Anja Rand, Dylan Reich, Nephele Sarrinikolaou, Avery Smart, and Ethan Toth.

Union 32 High School

U-32’s graduation is scheduled for Friday, June 16, at 6 p.m. The rain date is scheduled for the next day, Saturday, June 17, at 3 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Kevin Richards, U-32 social studies department and student council co-advisor/football coach. The ceremony is scheduled to take place outside and no tickets are needed. Graduation practice will be held on June 15 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. A separate senior award ceremony will take place Sunday, June 11, at 3 p.m. in the U-32 auditorium. 

U-32 does not have a valedictorian nor a salutatorian.

Spaulding High School

Spaulding High School’s graduation is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m. rain or shine. The commencement ceremony will be held out on the field unless it rains, in which case it will be held in the gymnasium. No tickets are needed if it is outdoors, whereas tickets will be needed for an indoor event. Graduation will be livestreamed in both cases. Valedictorian is Angelique Macie while salutatorian is Madison Ashford.

Scholarship night is June 7 at 6 p.m.
