Police took an Orange man into custody following an investigation into multiple instances of violating abuse prevention orders and conditions of release.
Someone reported to the Berlin Police Department as well as the Barre City Police Department that James Otis, 58, had violated conditions of release and final abuse prevention orders more than 20 times each. Police located Otis at his residence on March 21 and took him into custody. Officers from both the Berlin and Barre City agencies were involved.
Otis was charged with stalking, 20 counts of violations of conditions of release, and 20 counts of violations of a final abuse prevention order.
Otis was held on $10,000.00 bail and scheduled to appear in court March 22 to answer to all the charges.
