The Friends of The Bridge invites members of the public to join them in an evening of entertainment, food, and conversation Wednesday, May 22, on the campus of Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier. This celebration of local, independent, nonprofit journalism will benefit The Bridge, Central Vermont’s community newspaper. The evening features a keynote address by Montpelier native Garrett Graff, biographer of former FBI Director Robert Mueller and an expert on the Mueller investigation.

Graff, a graduate of Montpelier High School, will be joined by Vermont journalists Anne Galloway, founder of VTDigger, Paula Routly, co-publisher of Seven Days, and Kent Jones, an Emmy-award winning former writer for The Daily Show and The Rachel Maddow Show. Mike Dunphy, editor and publisher of The Bridge will host the evening.
“We are very excited to have Garrett speak at our first gala,” said Mike Dunphy, editor and publisher of The Bridge. “It should be a stimulating discussion with good food, drinks, and entertainment by Bella and the Notables. This will not be your usual, stuffy panel discussion.”
In addition to speakers and audience participation, the event will feature sumptuous hors d’oeurves by Cafe Anna, time to socialize and dance to jazz classics by Bella and The Notables. A silent auction will feature fine art by local artists and other special items. A cash bar will also be available.
The Friends of The Bridge arranged the event. Sponsors include Vermont College of Fine Arts;  Caledonia Spirits; Seven Days; Union Mutual of Vermont; National Life; Hunger Mountain Co-op; WDEV/Radio Vermont; Montpelier Construction; L. Brown & Sons Printing; Gendron Building; Stone Environmental; Downs Rachlin Martin LLC; and many others.
The event runs from 6 to 9 pm in College Hall Gallery on the VCFA campus in Montpelier. Tickets are $55 each or $100 for two and can be purchased at SevenDaysTickets.com, or by mailing a check to Friends of The Bridge, P.O. Box 1641, Montpelier, VT 05601. Please join us for this stimulating evening as we celebrate the critical role of independent journalism, swing with a lively jazz band, and savor fine food and cocktails.
